Keep your Kitchen Feeling New

When you have invested in a new kitchen, you want to keep it looking and feeling as pristine as possible. Even if your kitchen isn’t brand new, regular maintenance will help you make the most of it. An annual checklist will help you achieve this.

Any kitchen maintenance routine will include cleaning, but there is so much more to it but it doesn’t have to be an arduous task if you keep on top of things. To keep on top of the challenge, we suggest you work from an annual checklist; it’s a great way of keeping on track of it all. As we’re finishing off the year and moving into 2024, it’s the perfect time to think about it.

Clean and care for your kitchen cabinets

Your cabinets bear the brunt of daily wear and tear. To keep them in top shape, start with a thorough cleaning. For wooden cabinets, use a mild solution of soap and water, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish. Inspect them for any loose hinges or handles, tightening them to prevent further damage. If you have laminate or metal cabinets, opt for a gentle cleaner to maintain their sheen.

Maintaining Worktops

Worktops will be in daily use, and different materials require different care. Granite and quartz worktops benefit from pH-neutral cleaners, while laminate worktops respond well to a mixture of water and mild dish soap. Remember to protect surfaces from scratches by using cutting boards and trivets to prevent heat damage.

TLC for your Appliances

Keep your appliances running smoothly and avoid urgent repairs or replacements with some TLC. Clean the refrigerator coils, clear out debris from the dishwasher filter, and give your oven a thorough clean. Not only will this extend the lifespan of your appliances, but it will also contribute to their energy efficiency, saving you money in the long run. You may wish to also consider annual safety checks by a suitable professional for your appliances.

Tile Care

Whether you have tiles on your walls or floors, over time grout can become discoloured. Deep clean the tiles yearly to revive the décor and prevent any mould growth. Check whether the sealant at the tile edging and around the kitchen sink is in good condition, if not it’s worth re-sealing to ensure longer term damage doesn’t occur.

When it comes to keeping your kitchen sparkling, there are lots of cleaning options available. There is a wide range of eco-friendly products which will have natural ingredients, there is something to suit every budget and there are plenty of online communities discussing alternative cleaning solutions.

By maintaining your kitchen and the elements in it, you can keep it looking brand new and ensure its longevity. If your kitchen is well maintained but you fancy a refresh, you can make simple changes such as updating cabinet handles or adding accessories to breathe new life into the space without a complete overhaul.
